Supported Local Bus Services 2025 Consultation – Request for Your Support
Essex County Council are pleased to announce the launch of the Public Consultation on Supported Local Bus Services, and we would greatly appreciate your support in promoting it widely within your communities.
Published: 4 August 2025

Bus services are important to all of us. An effective bus network helps all communities to thrive by:
- supporting economic growth by getting people to work, training and school.
- supporting an improved Essex environment through the reduction of air quality and carbon emissions.
- allowing young people, older people and those with disabilities or without cars to travel.
- helping to support diverse and thriving communities and
- helping to combat loneliness and isolation
Please consider sharing the consultation through your website, newsletters, notice boards, or community groups so residents can contribute to the future of the supported bus network across Essex.
Please note: The majority of buses in Essex, around 85% of the network, are operated commercially and this consultation does not include commercial bus services.
Consultation period:
Opens: 4 August 2025
Closes: 27 October 2025
