Chairman Brian Turner contacted the Colchester District Commander at Essex Police to seek some action on worsening antisocial driving and noise issues in the village. The response was quite encouraging, with the following:
- Increased attention from the Neighbourhood Policing Team.
- Directed police patrols during the summer evenings where resources permit.
- Roads Policing officers have been made aware of the location and asked to include it in their patrolling activity.
- Existing Vehicle PSPO powers can be enforced where offending behaviour is witnessed.
- Officers may use enforcement measures including Section 59 warnings.
- Liaison with Colchester City Council to explore other options available.
Police emphasised that successful enforcement relies heavily on residents reporting incidents with vehicle registrations, descriptions, times and locations.
We would encourage residents to report incidents with as much detail as can be safely obtained to Colchester police and to the Parish Clerk to enable us to continue to press for some support and action.
