Waste Collection Service Update – week commencing 6 July 2026

Colchester City Council is making a temporary change to recycling and waste collection start times during the week commencing 6 July 2026.

Key points to know

  • Collections will start earlier at 6am (instead of 7am) from Tuesday 7 July to Friday 10 July (no collections on Mondays)
  • This is the only change to services
  • Residents should ensure bins are presented before 6am on their collection day
  • Food waste, mixed recycling and rubbish collections continue as normal
  • Recycling and waste collections may continue to change during the week as we assess conditions and operational requirements

What residents need to do

  • Put bins out by 6am on their collection day
  • Continue presenting all waste and recycling as usual
  • Check the council website for any further updates

Why this is happening

Starting collections earlier allows crews to work during the cooler part of the day and helps protect staff welfare while maintaining services for residents.
