As you will have heard on the news, major changes are planned to councils across Greater Essex as part of the largest reorganisation of local government in over 50 years.
This change does not affect town and parish councils.
There are two businesses cases for LGR in Greater Essex, one for a five unitary council and one for a three unitary council. These will be submitted to Government at the end of September – for them to make a final decision.
To help inform the five-unitary council business case, a resident survey has now launched. You can have your say and complete the survey on Southend City Council’s website here: https://yoursay.southend.gov.uk/yoursayfutureofessex. The survey will close at 5pm on Sunday 20 July.
In parallel to this survey, resident and stakeholder engagement is happening across the whole of Essex. These will provide a set of data that will inform both business cases and are in addition to the Five Unitary Authority Consultation mentioned above.
